In order to start earning from Instant Articles, you must create a free account through Facebook to start using this feature. We will explain the registration steps in the Instant Articles step by step.

What are the steps to register for Facebook Instant Articles?

1. Register for Instant Articles

The first step to getting started with Instant Articles is to register and create a free account to join this program. This can be done by going to the following website Instantarticles.fb.com and then clicking on Start Earning as shown in the image.

Note that you need to have a Facebook Page, not a personal account. You also need to be admin on this page.

2. Choose the Facebook page that you want to associate with instant articles

After clicking on “Start Earning”, you will be taken directly to Facebook to choose the page eligible to apply for the Instant Articles Program.

To ensure that your Page is eligible to apply to the Instant Articles program, you must see “Sign Up” in exchange for the option to earn from Instant Articles. But if you see “Criteria Not Met” next to it, this means that the page is initially ineligible to apply for instant articles.

In the previous picture, we find that one of our Facebook pages is eligible to apply for 3 programs to profit from Facebook, one of which is the Instant Articles program. Then we click on “Sign Up” against it.

3. Claim your own URL or link

Once you start creating an account, you will usually be shown steps that you must complete before submitting your application. Focus on the “Add 10 production articles for review” section or the section related to adding your website and samples of articles that you will publish on your page so that your request will be studied by Facebook.

After clicking on the previous option, go to “Claim your URL”, and here you will link your website with your Instant Articles account.

Before placing your website link in this section, Facebook will ask you to copy your meta tag to the  tag in your website's HTML. Later you can click on Claim URL and put your domain name in the empty field as shown in the image.

Be aware that the URL that you will put on your website because it will be the permanent link associated with all of your instant articles on Facebook.

4. Customize the design

After sending your website link to Facebook, you can start customizing the design of the Instant Articles interface that you want your visitors to see when reading your articles. Facebook gives you free options to choose colors, type of fonts, and many more tools available.

5. Submit 10 articles for verification by Facebook

The Facebook administration needs to audit at least 10 articles of your work, in order to make sure that you comply with the policies for the use of Instant Articles.

At this point, you do not need to submit 10 articles to Facebook directly, but you can choose previous articles from the content on your website that is ready to link with instant articles. In fact, there is more than one way to provide the required examples to Facebook, and here are the most important ones:

Connect your Facebook account with your WordPress account

If you use WordPress to manage your website, Facebook has created a WordPress plugin to simplify the mechanism for connecting WordPress with Instant Articles. In fact, using the Facebook Plugin is the quickest and easiest way to set up your account and submit 10 samples of your work to Facebook. (In the next section, we will explain step-by-step how to connect WordPress with Instant Articles.)

  • Use second publishing tools :

In addition to the WordPress option, Facebook collaborates with several publishing platforms to facilitate the mechanism of linking content on them with instant articles on them. Currently, there is a link between Facebook and the following publishing platforms:

ShareThis,Drupal,RebelMouse, Tempest, Atavist, Medium, Perk Distributed, Sovrn, Steller.

  • Use an RSS feed :

If you are not using WordPress or any other content management system powered by Facebook, you can link the content of your website to Facebook via an RSS feed. Facebook provides a comprehensive guide on how to link Instant Articles to the RSS feed, which can be viewed via this link.

  • Use the API :

Via the Application Programming Interface (API), you can create, publish, update and delete Instant Articles from your CMS and is an excellent alternative to an RSS feed.

6. Submit your application for review

After completing all the previous steps, you can submit your request for profit from instant articles to the review by Facebook. Your application is considered and all submitted articles comply with Facebook's policies and that your application is complete to be accepted. You usually get a response to your Instant Articles joining request between 1-2 weeks or less in some cases.
